Korea’s Big 3 advancing full force into the America market

Korea’s Big 3 SM Entertainment, YG Entertainment and JYP Entertainment are all geared up for their advance into the American market.

Both YGEnt and JYPEnt have both their local corporations in America with ‘YG Entertainment America’ and ‘JYP Entertainment USA’. And on 29th August, SMEnt also announced their own ‘S.M Entertainment USA, Inc’.

All 3 companies have always been keen to advance into the America, as it was said to be have a huge pop music market that can be tapped on. Already, JYPEnt and YGEnt are into the marketing activities, and tying up with local corporations for collaborations.

However, being unfamiliar with the American market and there is bound to be much higher risks when advancing into the market.

JYP Entertainment have already planned to debut their female singer Min in America under JYP Entertainment USA and working with the famous producer there. Park Jin Young said at the opening of JYP Entertainment USA last June, “Asian singers and producers are now advancing into America by working with the coorperations here.”

While YG Entertainment America is also now in the process working Se7en’s debut into America by inviting for local music producers and singers to work together. Se7en had already his preview party to his debut album in May in LA Hollywood Highlander Club. On the day of the preview party, one of the songs he performed was ‘You Got Me Now’. The song was the collaboration with Black Eyed Peas‘ producer Noize Trip. This song also features the country’s famous rapping duo Three Six Mafia.

Back then Red Queen Media said, “Se7en’s first America album has got all the collaborations of the famour producers in America. Until now, all the 12 songs to the album are done. The album will also be released in English in Korea.”

Korea’s Big 3 YG, JYP and SM Entertainment are all set to advance into the America. It’s just the matter of time.

This article didn’t talk about who SMEnt is going to send to America. It’s got to be either a debuting artiste or BoA. :/

How come I have a sinister feeling that we will have to wait even longer for BoA’s comeback in Korea?

  1. SM entertainment is a genius. They know exactly what type of people to send off to America and it’s people who can speak fluent English and have special talents that will awe the American audience. I don’t think SM is going to send BoA anytime soon since she still needs to polish her English, but I would love to see her here.

  2. AHHHH! Its an invasion! Haha.
I love Korean entertainment and their artists, dearly. In fact, I listen to Korean music more that anything these days. But as I’ve voiced elsewhere, I just can’t see the U.S. being ready for this yet. They ought to wait a little while longer. Let everybody go back to Korea for a year or two. Japan keeps stealing all the good artists.

  3. poor SE7EN.. he’s never going to succeed in the states =S.. he should have just made it big in the asian market first before heading there~ … but honestly.. the korean entertainment should just stay in asia.. EXCEPT FOR BIG BANG! WOOOOOOt~ big bang is so ready to go US! LOL

  4. thats was a little funny “EXCEPT FOR BIG BANG! WOOOOOOt~ big bang is so ready to go US! LOL”
but Im agree with that =)
    Big Bang is lovee ^^
but Se7en too hes so cutee ^^ I hope he’ll make it big in the states! he deserve it =)

  5. BoA… Please… Just come back to Korea already ;_; You know i’ll support/buy whatever album/concert dvd you release next, but I rather it be a Korean one.

  6. well….living here in america….i would absolutely love to see my favorite K-artists here xD
but i think korea has waited long enough and they need their BoA back, plus I think lately she’s been saying that she WANTS to but feels she isn’t ready yet.
i’m really rooting for SM because I feel that JYP and YG will produce music that I already hear here, which isn’t all that great.

  7. @beanpaste: You’re a biased idiot. BB would be ashamed of you. Where would BB be without their seniors? It’s really no wonder why people heavily dislike BB fans.

  8. Daydreaming is free anyways keep it up!!!!

  9. I almost feel sorry for them… Well I feel sorry for Se7en at least, he actually has talent in singing. I hope that they’ll come back to Korea eventually…

But BoA? No offence but she’s too overrated. Her singing skills are like… Meh. Her voice is so nasal that it’s annoying. Most BoA fans that I know only like her for her looks, not for her singing.

What is it with Korean singers and their desperation to break into the American market anyway?

  11. I think out of those 3 entertainments…
    JYP will fail the most…
Because Rain has already failed so that has given them a bad name. Min is nothing special, I don’t see her succeeding in the states.

But SM might have some success because BoA has been doing J-music for awhile now. And Japan has the 2nd largest influence on music world wide so debuting in the states is a good idea for her. But there is a language problem for her.

Se7en, I think he’ll have the most success. I think Se7en has already signed a contract and is just waiting for the right time to debut. His English is amazing good. Better than my dad and my dad has been living in the states for over 20 years. Se7en’s English doesn’t even have an accent anymore. With all the money YG is investing in Se7en it must be something worth wild. His Myspace was paid for, his website was paid for, his album was paid for. YG wouldn’t waste money if he didn’t think it was right.

  12. If JYPE plains his cards well, his artists in the US will de amazing. Min is very much a all american girl now, she talks like them, dresses like them, but has great dancing skills her her voice is impressive .. J-Lim is known has the korean Alicia Keys. She is the most talented singer in korea if you ask me…Her pipes are amazing, so she doesn’t need that much promotion. As for G-soul he lacks charisma right now, but his voice is AMAZING and very soulful.. So I think, if Monkey man plays his cards well, his minions will be a hit in the US. By the way, Rain had already left JYPE when he started to move into the US market (which he hasn’t even officially tried yet as a singer..you guys read too many blogs)

SM is the company that won’t make it in the US. their candyfloss music is not going to appeal to americans.. The whole “I’m cute at 26″ is creepy and Americans don’t give a damn about “cute”.. BOA?? if she debuts now, she will fail. Her english is unbearable, and her style isn’t really one the americans will dig… I think with a few more years, she will make it here..but not now.. they are rushing it… She and Shinee are the only ones that could make it in the US, but she needs 3 more years and they need 4 more. tThe rest of SM artists aren’t charismatic enough to win over Americans. Whoever says DBSK has a chance, has clearly lost their mind.. Maybe Xiah and Hero. The others will faill terribly

YG? i think they could make it… But the problem is their style isn’t unique enough when compared to other Us artists.. Tae Yang already passes for a korean omarion…Americans aren’t into doubles, they won’t pay attention.. So YG has a lot of potentials, but they need to show something more…they can’t debut with a style that is already wide spread, especially because they are asian. They will be labeled as asian copycats.. I hate to admit it, but something like BB has brought in Korea (Haru Haru crap) would work better…

  13. Personally

JYP : Successful. They’ve shaped Min into an american singer, with connections like lil jon.

Se7en: Success, his style of music is appealing to americans.

BoA: Uhhh…this one worries me… Personally, i think her music is more suited to the orient, although she can easily change her style, but more people will look forward to the featurings much like JYP

  14. idc whut u guys say hope theyll be succesful

  15. Personally, I think america isn’t so great compared to korean when it comes to dancing and even singing. myb it just my taste in music. that’s why I preferred if they sing in korean..
