Group Big Bang won 3 awards at the MTV World Stage Video Music Awards Japan (MTV WS VMAJ) while Dong Bang Shin Ki also won the ‘Best Group Award’ with the song ‘Share The World’ even though they did not attend.
The MTV WS VMAJ was held on 29th May in Tokyo Yoyogi National Staidum, and Big Bang won 3 awards – ‘Best New Artiste Video Award’ and ‘Best Pop Video Award’ as well as ‘Best Collaboration’ for Big Bang’s collaboration with W-inds for the song ‘Rain Is Fallin’. This is only 1 year after the group’s Japanese major debut in June 2009.

I was the one who posted that BB is not that popular and I have the right to say so.
I studied there for 4+ years, back to my hometown after I graduated and visited the country again early this year for 3 months. So yeah, I DO know about j-pop quite well compared to others who just read the news in the internet.
I have nothing against BB winning the awards because they DESERVED it. But to all fans who think they’re popular, well I’m sorry to say that they’re not.
It’s good to know that they won because of the quality of the music, not because of popularity.
Um are you sure about that o_O I know people that live in japan and they’re quite popular for korean artists maybe not way up there yet but they definitely have a lot more recognition than many of the japanese artists that have been around longer. It’s a matter of time and if they continue to make quality music.

I was in Japan from Dec ’09 till early March ’10 there’s not much news about BB. I guess their fans are k-pop enthusiast or Koreans living in Japan, but in general they’re not popular.
I don’t know how much they achieved in 5 months period this year, but judging from the awards they received they’re probably doing good.
Anyways, slightly out of topic, although Japan are the world 2nd biggest entertainment market after US, the Japanese are not really fond of non-Japanese singers. This is through my observation, though. I met a lot of Japanese there and most of them don’t listen or dislike k-pop artist other than BoA and Tohoshinki. Take FT Island for example. They’ve made it through Oricon daily chart, but are they popular? Absolutely not.
Would be good if there are Japanese people on K-Bites to enlighten me on this issue =)

Beauty is subjective. I don’t particularly find DBSK handsome nor do I find their bodies all that great. Not saying I find BB better looking than them but DBSK just really aren’t that attractive compared to some guys I’ve seen.
That’s what I like about Big Bang. They may not have a standard handsome idol face, but they still get the same amount followers like a handsome idol has.
And I like reading comments like, “Wow they have good voice”, “They cool”, “Wow that’s amazing,” compare to “They so handsome”, “I love his 6 packs” etc.
Better to be recognized as having talent then physical attribute that someday would disappear.

^ singing is also subjective. i don’t think DBSK is that great at singing (which is why i leave the room if my sister puts on one of their songs). i prefer tae and dae over any of them. nor do i find any of them relatively handsome. and since when do they have nice bodies? they are all hella skinny. so please stop acting like DBSK is so fantastic at everything.
