Park Jin Young turns down WonderGirls fan union’s request for conference

The representative of WonderGirls fan union revealed that their request for fan conference with JYP Entertainment has been rejected on 23rd January.

It has been known that fans requested for a conference with JYP CEO Park Jin Young regarding the shocking news of SunMi’s sudden leaving of the group, but it was rejected. According to the fans, JYP has personally rejected the request.

The representative of the fan union announced on 27th January, “We are still in shock and confused state of SunMi‘s leaving of the group. Such an important piece of news and it was released through WonderGirls American homepage and not through the fanclub, explaining it briefly in a few sentence in English. We are disappointed with the way JYP announced it.”

“We have been waiting for JYP’s sincere answer but until now we have not heard anything. And when we request for conference, they simply told us that they will reject it.”

It has been known that the fan union had given JYP 4 conditions on 23rd January:

  1. There is a need to explain clearly about SunMi’s activities discontinuity. And when will the discussion and official announcement about the case be released.
  2. Clear explanation about new member HyeRim’s status. This is because in the announcement posted on JYP American website, it is known that SunMi may have her comeback in the future.
  3. SunMi’s fanmeeting. WonderGirls will meet with fans personally and establish a consensus, and also do a goodbye stage, since the last stage they had was during their Seoul concert last March.
  4. JYP to apologise for their unilateral communication.

The fan union has given JYP a notice to hold the conference before 31st January. But it has been unclear from JYP’s side about their stand on holding the conference.

  1. i think that long-term fans would notice sunmi’s absence, but people who recently became fans of the wonder girls would notice 4 members vs. 5 members if sunmi’s spot wasn’t filled.

  2. I don’t think Korean Wonderfuls are going out of the line. They have every right to feel that way. The fact that JYPE only posted the news in English is too much. He should have posted it also in their Korean website. Wonder Girls wouldn’t be the Wonder Girls they are today without the Korean Wondefuls’ support. It looks like they are neglected and JYPE doesn’t even care about them. And he really should be blamed! Why bring Wonder Girls to America in the first place? He only cares about $$$$$$ and wanted to prove that he is the best producer and CEO in Korea. I’ve lost all my respect for him.

I’m not saying that JYP should stop Mimi from leaving. I love that Mimi will continue her studies since education is really important. What I can’t stand is knowing that JYPE didn’t post it in their Korean website addressed to Korean Wonderfuls about Mimi’s withdrawal. It’s being disrespectful to fans who watched over them all these years!

  3. […] It has been known on 27th January that a WonderGirls fan union’s request for conference with JYP Entertainment has been turned down by …. […]

  4. K fans is so scary!!! I think they’re so serious about eyerything that happen in all kpop society.

It’s just a work, you know. The time passed so the new thing will occur and they’re a lot of idols who wanna do what they want. The word “Idol” is not stick with them so long.

    You guys should encourage SunMi!!!

  5. But guys, give a break to the fans. The fact that they demand so much simply because they CARE about WG very much. If they don’t, they wouldn’t have bothered right?

I believe all in all, the fans just wanna know what’s going on… and most importantly, will Sunmi ever come back as a WG?

    • i agree.the fans have the right to know too.they want to know what will happen to her, and want to see her perform in front of them for the last time.you guys have to understand that the last time sunmi will be performing live is in US, not in korea, the place she debuted.the fans are just in shock.that’s all.and i am one of them.i am a die hard hard of WG, and i couldnt take the news at first, but whatever makes sunmi happy, i guess.

  6. I am so sick of all these fans asking for so much. Seriously? Get over it. When they’re ready they’ll come out and talk about it. And if they don’t, SO WHAT? It’s their freakin life not yours.

  7. i think the wonderfuls demand too much from jype or jyp himself..
no matter how we (Hottest here!!) hate or detest his way of management..
he is still the person who discover the idols we love and promote them to their current acheivements..
so perhaps some respect should be given to jyp..
i think an explanation and a fanmeeting are reasonable demands but an apology from jyp himself is too much.. from the company will seem to be much appropriate..

all in all i believe that sunmi make this decision herself coz with her and WG current achievement its unlikely that jype or jyp do smth at the back,,
anw i wish sunmi all the best!! ^^

  8. I don’t know about this. I fully believe that we shouldn’t blame JYP on this, but I kinda wished he’d give um, more explanation about this so the fans wouldn’t so feel distraught over the matter. The fans are a big part of who they are now as WGs too, a good and explanation (I think) wouldn’t really hurt. Hopefully JYPE would give that to the fans in due time.

  9. … Sunmi wants to leave. let her leave. of course wg will never be the same without her but it’s her choice and we, fan or not, should respect that.

chill a little! if fan groups insist on making the situation difficult, are they really supporting the artists? or pose as a threat to those who wants to take a leave from a famous pop group for a while? i mean, how come there was no such big commotions when hyuna left wg a few years ago? i think the whole jaebum situation is getting everybody overreacting…

    • it’s because when hyunah left, WG only debuted for like a few months. fans weren’t rly attached yet.
sunmi’s different since she’s in WG for over 3 years.

  10. this is quite similar to the jaebum situation on some aspects.

i think when the time comes, jyp will hold a conference. as of right now, everything is happening too fast and they just need to wither the storm. although i am completely saddened by the news, time will only temporarily heal the bruises.

so yeah, like jaebums situation, a press conference will come in time with further explanations. although the explanations may still be very vague, its okay. sunmi is still in contact with jyp entertainment so theres still light

  11. @… A Emperor don’t make up his whole empire.

  12. FAN UNION?

THEY THINK THEY ARE A UNION?

THEY THINK THEY’RE LIKE A LABOR UNION?

    THEY ARE ONLY FANS.

    THEY ARE NOT SHAREHOLDERS.

    THEY ARE NOT EMPLOYEES.

    THEY ARE NOT MANAGEMENT.

    THEY ARE NOT CONTRACTORS.

    THEY ARE ONLY FANS.

THE FANS ONLY POWER IS TO BUY THE CDs & TICKETS.

BUY OR NOT BUY. THAT IS THEIR ONLY POWER.

THEY SHOULD GO BUY SOME OTHER MUSIC.

THIS SO-CALLED FAN “UNION” ARE DELUDED FANGIRLS.

THESE DELUDED FANGIRLS HAVE NO REAL POWER.

    THESE FANGIRLS SHOULD QUIT CRYING.

FANS HAVE NO RIGHT TO DICTATE JYPE BUSINESS.

FANS HAVE NO RIGHT TO PERSONNEL PRIVATE INFO.

FANS ASKING FOR A GOODBYE STAGE IS THE EQUIVALENT TO ASKING SUNMI TO CONTINUE WORKING WHEN SHE DOESN’T WANT TO WORK ANYMORE.

FANS ASKING FOR A GOODBYE STAGE WOULD AMOUNT TO MAKING SUNMI INTO A **SLAVE** FORCING HER TO CONTINUE WORKING WHEN SHE NO LONGER WANTS TO WORK.

    SUNMI ALREADY ASKED TO QUIT.

JYPE AND SUNMI AND SUNMI’S PARENTS ALREADY AGREED SHE IS TO BE OUT BY THE END OF FEBRUARY.

THEY HAVE NOT AGREED TO ANYTHING ELSE.

FANS ARE BEING RIDICULOUS ASKING FOR SOMETHING BEYOND WHAT THEY AGREED TO.

FANS HAVE NO LEGAL STANDING AT ALL IN ANY OF THIS.

THE FANGIRLS OF THIS POWERLESS “UNION” ARE ALL DELUDED.

    • Too long. Didn’t read.

    • I dont get why u are so upsets but u must not forget that b/c of these fans wondergirls are now in US they are the ones who helped wonder girls to become what they are now without them wonder girls wouldnt have became that successful or powerful and I dont think what the fans are asking for is too much all they want is for JYP to clear up things for them b/c the statement that was released through Wonder Girls American homepage was not really clear most of the fans did not really understand if she will comeback or not so all they want is for him clear things for them which is nothing

    • Whatta way to categorize KWonderfuls eh? How can you say this is all ‘fangirls’ doing some ‘powerless union’? Actually, this so called ‘fangirls’ you are talking about do have power. If they don’t buy the albums or support the group, do you really think Wonder Girls would be as successful as they first started? No.

Also, did you read the article correctly? I’m pretty sure you didn’t and jumped into stupid conclusions of yours. Read the article first before start saying crap dear.

    • Because of our ‘buy the CD and tickets’ power like u mentioned above, WG can go to US and expand their music career.
You think they would achieve this much if not because of us? Psshh..

      • k here’s my take on fan clubs: SCARY! and don’t u all think u are taking too much credit for their success? i mean, they are successful because 1) they worked their butts off 2) Company wrote them catchy songs …and because of this, it attracted fans. WG can go to US and expand their music career because mostly of JYP! and their hard working selves!!

so if sunmi wants to take a break from all the crazy working, i think she deserves to make that decision. point 3: Sunmi’s fanmeet where WG meet with fans and establish consensus. WTF??! as a fan, you support WG, not DEMANDING from them!! consensus? are you their parents? their boss? no you are support to be their support!! you are support to support their decisions and wish the best for them. NOT DEMANDING a goodbye stage. That’s just SELFISH! besides, the company has plans for them. they have a SCHEDULE to follow! Sunmi leaving may already disrupt their plans. do you think JYP is more happy than the fans? I don’t think so!! so why can’t the fanclubs just back off rather than making this situation difficult.

  13. I know how the K-WonderFuls feel. JYP announced Sunmi’s withdrawal through WonderGirlsWorld.com where it is all written in english. Without the K-WonderFuls, WG is nothing. They were fans first before us International WonderFuls so they have the right to know first.

I’m pretty disappointed that JYP rejects the press conference. Every WonderFul has the right to know Sunmi’s future plans whether Lim will replace her permanently or just a temporary member.

Keep ur heads up K-WonderFuls and don’t give up!

  14. i dont think the wonderfuls had the authority to request that……but they have the right. theyre the ones who supported the wonder girls through all of their promotions.

i think it was rude of JYPE to announce such an important decision through the american website only in english….which is totally disregarding the korean wonderfuls who care so much about the wg.

it’s like JYPE only cares about the american market now and the korean public means nothing. that’s the kind of feeling that korean wonderfuls probably got.

sometimes fans can be drama queens…but in this case, it’s understandable.

JYPE is losing credit more and more with each day and action….:X

  15. I dont blame KWonderfuls at all. Instead of announcing it on WG’s Official FanCafe, they just had to go to international sites just to find out that *heuk* our lovely SunMi’s withdrawal. It’s their rights to complain. Not to sound arrogant or anything, but if it wasn’t for the KWonderfuls, Wonder Girls wont be where they are now. I mean the girls worked hard as an artist, but the fans are always the main reason. Anyways, idk why but I feel like i’m reading the same articles with different reasons. I’m confuse.

    • I agree with u. I cant imagine how distraught KWonderfuls are at the moment.
And I also think JYPE did not handle breaking the news too well. JYPE really need to look into investing in some serious PR people. From the way that they handled Jay’s case and now Sunmi’s, JYPE must seriously find a way to communicate with their fans better.

  16. I don’t blame the fans when the news came out all most everyone was confused and shocked honestly I’m still confused b/c till now JYP did not make it clear to us if sumi will comeback as member of wonder girls or as solo artist so to me the best thing to do to clear up this issue is either by releasing another official statement or to do a press conference

  17. denying the request for conference is understandable. scheduling such an event is rather difficult. maybe jyp just doesnt want to give up hope with a clear and definite answer if it does turn out for the worst…

i hope this is all just a marketing ploy for anticipation and attention by JYP and JYPE.
if it was, it sure as hell is effective…

    • I feel like the girls should at least perform one more time in Korea just for Kwonderfuls. They must be super jealous that Sunmi’s last performances will be in the States.

      • totally agree with you. they should feel obligations to perform, without question. looking at it from kwonderfuls perspectives, perhaps we all would react in a similar manner. ): so sadddd

  18. Oh sunMi!!
Please dont go. I can understand Wonderfuls feeling

  19. “JYP’s sincere answer” Everyone wants that. Go kwonderfuls!

  20. Why do some wonderfuls feel like they have the same rights as JYPE Shareholders?

    • oh youre right. it does sound like it.

but maybe its just an emotional shock. the news was pretty dawm sudden ):

      • Fans should be happy that JYPE gave Sunmi the opportunity to leave and make her life. If she was sad and depressed in the US and wants a normal life why cant she have it?

Who are we the fans to force her to stay? do we want things to end up bad?

        Because if 2009 taught us anything is that depressed ppl do horrible things like committing suicide ;~;

      • I agree that i feel happy Sunmi can get back to Korea. She seems too depressed these days.
However, I think the korean fans just feel extremely hurt at the thought of seeing no Sunmi in WG forever.
If we see it from different perspectives, this issue has somehow hurt all parties icluding wonderfuls, JYP, JYPE, Sunmi along with other WG members n maybe the innocent new member, Lim.
        I dunno what’s best anymore….T.T

    • Coz they bought the albums n other products related to WG. They might look insignificant individually but since there r many of them, they r a huge influence in WG’s success.

      • But its not like fans are doing him a favor by buying WG’s cds. Fans are supposed to but the cds because they like the product.

That’s how business works, for products and services everywhere!

Just because you are a client it doesn’t give you the right to demand an apology.

All the JYP/JYPE hate has to stop, its is really immature 😦

      • I’m not blaming it on JYP himself.
        Well, poor him… He’s a decent producer.
But I was just stating the fact that in idol fandom. Those people bought the albums 90% bcoz it has WG’s name attached on it. Eventhough it’s only CD with 1 song sold at a full album price. I believe kwonderfuls will still buy it.
Some fans even bought more than 1 copy of the same album.

    • i understand they felt dissapointed because the news of sunmi leaving is released not through Korea medium, but they should stop blaming JYP for everything for god’s sake. pity him.
