So Nyeo Shi Dae’s surprise appearance on Oricon Charts

Group So Nyeo Shi Dae makes a surprising appearance on Japanese Oricon album charts.

According to Oricon chart on 15th February, So Nyeo Shi Dae’s 2nd album ‘Oh!’ has entered the chart at #54 spot for the 2nd week of February. This is eye catching since there was no promotions done at all for the release of the album in Japan and their entrance on the chart is already in the top 100. Moreover, So Nyeo Shi Dae also did not get any official licensing for their album in Japan.

A SM Ent rep also revealed on 18th February that So Nyeo Shi Dae’s ‘Oh’ album is not only doing well in Korea but also in China, Japan and other Asian countries.

The rep said, “We are also shocked that So Nyeo Shi Dae has gone up the Oricon chart even without promotions. According to SM Japan, the girls’ albums are on sales in local mega stores.”

And about the possibility that girls will promote in Japan, “There are no confirmed solid plans about that.”

  1. i doubt it too.

  2. Ohhhhhh maybe it’s a miracle for snsd. . .Chukae!

  3. It’s kind of weird how people think all Japan has is “cute” stuff. Yes, for people who are unaware, it may be just anime and girl groups. But if you really understood the industry, you’d realize the undeniable amount of serious musicians and groups that aren’t so “cute”.

SNSD…. whatever they choose, hope they succeed. Although from previous SMers that went to Japan don’t seem to come back to Korea for a long time….

  4. wonder y are some ppl complaining here???
    btw, congrats to SNSD….

  5. haish….. i don’t think the song does have rythm at all….. what i hear is repetitive mosquito-like voices… good thing there’s taeyon as vocals but this ‘Oh’ song is really irritating to the ears… and their outfit…. i cud accept Gee and Genie but this one….. so sorry…

    • if there’s no rhythm, would 3.5 million odd people view the MV online at youtube?

      • ^ we r talking about youtube here and accept the fact that it’s not just the music they listen into why gurls.. and BOYS… do watch youtube

      • youtube does not only cater the ears of the listeners. ^^ most of the time they use youtube to watch… err… both girls and BOYS watch youtube

  6. i think SNSD can totally succeed in Japan if they keep making songs like Oh. lol

  7. ^ i DOUBT IT

  8. It would be interesting to see them chart in the USA. Without releasing any English songs of course.

  9. Go SNSD!!!<33333

  10. Not for long they won’t be…. ahaha

    • its the unstoppable SUSHI ROLL
love it or hate it, a force to be reckoned with.

    • Yeah kid.. This kind of music is a lot more appreciated in Japan. No surprise at all to me for them to enter Oricon. I’m more surprised to know they have market in Japan, considering they’re compared to Morning Musume a lot. SME is really put much consideration to debut them in Japan, 1st because of the comparison with Morning Musume, 2nd SNSD current music is what Japanese is really good at, cutesy song. The competition is really high & the chance of success is slim. They lost their competitive value (they stood out in Korea because only few groups focus with the same genre as them). But looking at this, SME will have much confident. SNSD rulez!

      p/s: music is universal

      • stfu.
japan doesn’t only like cutesy music
look at the biggest; koda,ayu,tohoshinki,kat-tun,orange range
        is that cutesy?

and momusu is death. look at their sales for the past 3 years.
        everything ±40k

      • Who said they only liked cutesy… ?

    • If you don’t like it, it doesn’t mean it’s bad. Apparently korean and japanese people love “that kind of music”.

  12. congrats congrats congrats!!

i wonder when they’ll promote in china. if they become successful there, the largest market in asia, its no telling how car they’ll go. lol, oh well, a dream is a dream.

    congrats once again

    • I thought Japan is the biggest market in Asia even the 2nd largest in the world, no?

N the girls already have a huge fanbase in China.
      snsd-china.com is huge….
my friend brought a magazine from China n SNSD was featured…lol

      • if you wanna compare by size, china’s music industry is a very large scale. but music acts are more favorable from taiwan. well there’s gonna be a shift in the music yet again in asia so we’ll have to see about that.

      • well yes, the scale of the chinese music industry is large…because there are many people. but yes, japan’s music market is number 2 in the world as far as money is involved. the chinese music market is not always a vibrant (and profitable) industry.
