Serbian singer Milan Stankovic has recently garnered much attention with his statement that GDragon has copied him.
On 20th March, Serbian ALO reported that, “The winner of 2010 EuroVision Song contest Milan Stankovi said that ‘Korea GDragon copied my hairstyle’. Milan also added ‘I’m excited that someone is influenced by me from a faraway country. This is proof that I’m doing well since a music star from another country has been influenced by my style’.”
EuroVision Song Contest is a yearly large scale song contest established in 1995. And winner Milan Stankovic released the song ‘Ovo je Balkan’ in where the concept and choreography of the song seemed very much similar to GDragon’s ‘Heartbreaker’.
Serbian netizens also commented, “Milan is more famous than GDragon. His Youtube video views are higher.”
But GDragon’s fans are angry about this. A Serbian fan said, “My mother works in the fashion industry. There was once when Milan came to her office and she showed him GDragon’s photos, and Milan said, ‘I want to be like GDragon.’ After that, he appeared on TV with the same outfit as GDragon and we were shocked.”
Korean fans also commented, “This had happened because Kpop is growing popular in Europe”, “GDragon has no time to waste worrying about this Serbian singer”, “This is so quirky like an April Fool’s day sitcom” etc.

What does it matter? This hairstyle has been around in America for years now, so technically, they both copied an American hairstyle. However, I do believe Milan looks better in it, even though I am a fan of both. Anyways, Korean pop isn’t very popular in Europe; otherwise I would have heard of it during my 2 month visit. But either way; Korea is getting too “cocky” about their American-styled so called “Korean-pop” After all, who can disagree with this, we all know that the pop now existent in Korea, would have not existed if not for Americans? So all in all, credit to America for not only great fashion sense, but great music as well. 😀
P.S. This isn’t the first time G-dragon has been accused of copying. So, just saying, it might actually be the truth.!
Here is the deal. I just heard of Milan S in the US because I checked up the 2010 winner of Eurovision on Youtube.Wanting to find out more about him, not because of his music which isn’t to my liking, but because he resembles my brother who lives in Serbia and is half Asian (Hungarian with mongolian ancestors: http://carnby.altervista.org/troe/p-02.htm). So I was hoping to find out if Milan also has Asian ancestors which many Serbians have due to the integration with the Hungarians. If you look at his facial bone structure you can see the big round cheekbones which are very predominant in Asians, as well as his eyes, not to mention his body composition. I am writing an essay about racial anatomy. Hope that explains to all of you what I am doing in your little “iambetterthanthouforum”

I live in the US. I don’t listen to K-pop but I do listen to J-rock (or some of it). Milan happens to come from the same country as my mother does. I have never heard of him or GD. If they are known all over the world, than by a small number of people who happen to have internet access or have connections to that part of the world through friends and family.
Are they known because MTV or VH blasts their videos on the US network? Absolutely NOT!

#1 People don’t understand the lyrics (well I do Milan’s).
#2 Even though their music is considered pop, it isn’t the same pop people here would listen to. It sounds off beat to them. J-rock and Kpop is only getting popular due to the Visual kei. Because the artists dress up and look cute and the female fans think the boys are cute and pull the EMO look a lot better off than the “white” boys. Do they really like the music? In all honesty, they do not. They admit not even being able to dance to it, but they can bob their head to the side and giggle.
Now to the fashion issue.
Who copied who, is ridiculous. Sure Milan said something arrongant, but we don’t know the circumstances of why he said it, nor how it all came about. You guys have gone on ranting on about a few lines which are so irrelevant. Who cares? Obviously only YOU all do. Does GD give a damn about this chat? No. Does Milan? No. They are MEN, they don’t give a damn about who copied who, they would proly shake hands and have a drink while checking out chicks to pick up. Men don’t really get into fashion debates.

The outfits she wore for the video Telephone are very similar to several costumes Madonna used from the 80’s and 90’s and not to mention she wears costumes similar to George Michael’s video “Too Funky”. I wonder if there is a forum where fans are trashing gaga and Madonna?

The whole debate about who is more superior in fashion or music is way too patriotic for me. Asians have different social norms and that is reflected in their fashion the same goes for the western people.That is what makes us all different. Would I want them all to be same? Milan Stankovic is a singer from Serbia who gained fame after he came out as 4th on popular Serbian singing show Zvezde Granda. KVIPS are extremely upset after the Serbian media has called G-Dragon a “Korean Wannabe Milan Stankovic”. Proof of that here.
Not only has the Serbian media made false accusations but even the rumor has it that even singer himself came out to say “I’m glad that Balkan is recognized in the world and that my influence is found in a country so far away. I can’t believe some of the things you just said here. I’m Belgian and I know GDragon, I know people here and in the Netherlands that know GDragon. I know Americans and Canadians and they all know who GDragon is.
Furthermore, you can’t compare cultures like that. Asian music culture is way different than its European equivalent. And I like both of them. I think in Fashion they are way ahead of us in some ways and that they just prefer other things than Europeans do. Even in Europe you can’t say that there’s only one culture. For instance, I would never like the music of this Milan if it doesn’t changes style.

I don’t really think it matters who is dressed like who. The thing that REALLY counts is who can pull it off better. We see this in Hollywood all the time – who wears the fashion better.
