Hiphop Singer Tiger JK Slams Racism in South Korea

[Korea Times] Popular hip-hop singer Tiger JK said he has often encountered racism in South Korea just like he did in the United States.

Appearing on the MBC nightly talk show “Mureuppak Gru” hosted by comedian Kang Ho-dong Wednesday, Tiger JK said he was shocked by racial remarks uttered by Koreans about his African American colleague rapper who came here and performs with him.

“I returned to Korea in the late 1990s for the first time in about 10 years. At that time, I heard that Korea is a nation of etiquette that welcomes everybody,” he said. “But it was not. I came across racism here too. I was often told by many Koreans not to go along with the `nigger.’ It was a shock.”

Lee SeungGi has received over the TV category MC award (special award) from SBS CEO at SBS main building on 11th January. This was based on the assessment done on broadcast programmes for the 2nd half of year 2009.

Lee SeungGi is said to have shown great MC’ing skills for the show ‘Strong Heart’.

Singer Kim JongMin reveals that Kang HoDong has changed.

Kim JongMin was on KBS 2TV Roundtable Plus aired on 5th January when he said, “HoDong hyung has changed a little as compared to before.”

“The Kang HoDong who dotes on me has disappeared. Now it seems he only dotes on SeungGi.” causing laughters with his statements.

Kim JongMin also talked about his feelings having joined the 2Days1Night team again.

Yoo JaeSeok and Lee Hyori awarded the Daesang at SBS Entertainment Awards!

Gagman Yoo JaeSeok and Lee Hyori have been both awarded the daesang at SBS Entertainment Awards, which took place on 30th December at the SBS GongGae Hall.

This is Yoo JaeSeok‘s 2nd year winning the daesang amidst strong competition from other entertainers like Kang HoDong and Lee GyungGyu. He said, “Really grateful. I don’t know that I will get the award. This is so sudden I don’t know what to think.”

Yoo JaeSeok has been active as the MC for SBS Family Outing from June 2008. And the viewership for the show has even peaked at 30% once. This is his 2nd daesang for this year after the one received at 2009 MBC Broadcast Awards on 29th December, and making his 6th daesang award received.

‘Infinite Challenge’ has been awarded the best variety show for the 4th year on MBC Variety Awards.

MBC Variety Awards took place on 29th December in MBC broadcast centre. This is the 4th consecutive year the show has been awarded the best variety show on the award ceremony after it was first chosen by netizens as the best program in 2006.

And as for the variety DaeSang, the award goes to MC Yoo JaeSeok. Yoo JaeSeok has received acknowledge for his appearance on MBC ‘Come To Play’ and ‘Infinite Challenge’. This is Yoo JaeSeok‘s 5th DaeSang received.
