Research: How do we recognise idol singers these days?

How do we recognise the idols of this time?

Mnet music research centre did an investigation on 1000 male and female adults for the whole month of June. The investigation looked into the 57 singers/teams who are the most active currently in the Korean music scene in terms of vocal capabilities, appearances, amiability, talent, performance and variety.

And through the survey, it was known that other than vocal capabilities, the idols are ranked very high in all the categories. In terms of their live performances, 16 ranks out of the top 20 ranks belongs to idol singers. And in terms of appearances, the girlgroups have dominated the rankings. Of the top 10 rankings we see the names of popular girlgroups like So Nyeo Shi Dae, KARA, f(x), After School, 2NE1, T-ara, 4Minute etc.

2NE1 the big winner with 4 awards at the 2009 Cyworld Digital Music Awards

4-member girlgroup 2NE1 is the singer group who received the most number of awards for CyWorld Digital Music Awards 2009.

During the 2009 Cyworld Digital Music Awards ceremony on 1st March, the girls won the awards of Top Seller Artist, Best Artist, Best Song and Best Rookie Group

2NE1 Sandara Park said when receiving over the Top Seller Artist award, “We are newcomers, but we are grateful to fans for letting us win so many awards.”

8eight’s Heartbreaker & Mister

On ‘Kim Jung Eun’s Chocolate’ aired today, 8eight was featured thoughout the show. The two men of 8eight sang GDragon’s ‘Heartbreaker’ in Park HyoShin’s voice and JuHee showed off her rare dancing skills doing the KARA’s butt dance for the song ‘Mister.’

Mnet unveils MAMA – Full nominee list revealed!

From 2009, Mnet annual music event MKMF will be changed to Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA).

A live program took place on 23rd October in Seoul Tower and the idea of the new music awards ceremony was revealed. Previously on 16th October, the note “This year there will be no MKMF’ was posted on Mnet’s official homepage, the change of the music ceremony was to give it a new transformation as mentioned by Mnet.

Baek Ji Young sings for ‘IRIS’ OST with ‘Don’t Forget’

Top singer Baek Ji Young sings for the OST for upcoming KBS drama ‘IRIS’.

She sang the love theme song ‘Don’t Forget’ for characters played by Lee ByungHeon and Kim TaeHee in the drama. This song is another musical work by Kim DoHoon and Lee HyunSeung who also did Park HyoShin‘s ‘After Love’ and Lee Seung Gi’s ‘Let’s Break Up’.

This is another OST song by Baek Ji Young after previous OST songs for drama ‘Hwang JiYi’ and ‘JaMyungGo’.

Lee Seung Gi overtakes Park HyoShin and Kim TaeWoo as the best male solo singer

Singer Lee Seung Gi has overtaken competitors like Kim TaeWoo and Park HyoShin to be the ballad prince of Kpop.

His comeback 4th album title song ‘Let’s Break Up’ is #1 for the 4th week of September on Monkey3 site. The song was up #18 on the previous week, but it rose 17 positions up to be at the #1 position.

Singers Kim TaeWoo drops 3 positions to be at #4 with the song ‘LOve Rain’, and Park Hyo Shin is at #3 with song ‘After Love’.
