Korean Grand National Party member Jeon YeoOk speaks up about 2PM JaeBum’s criticisms

jb_120909

A member Jeon YeoOk of political party HanNaRa Party/Grand National Party, conservative political party in South Korea, speaks up about the recent incident of 2PM JaeBum and criticisms against him about the posts he wrote on his MySpace page before debut.

Jeon YeoOk spoke about it during her appearance on SBS ‘Current Affairs’ aired on 11th September.

She said, “Through globalisation, JaeBum‘s recent MySpace incident arose but I thought isn’t it like closed nationalism with our own people casting him away like that? I thought that we should be cherishing instead of casting away a youth who wrote something in his own private space 4 years back when he was only 17~18 years old and when he is new to the culture that he was placed in. This is very heartbreaking.”

She added, “In my point of view, what JaeBum wrote on his MySpace page 4 years ago was something that he wrote in his private space when he was feeling lonely in this foreign land having to leave his home in the States. Isn’t it cruel to keep tracking and digging into this incident? To what extent should we protect the private life of entertainers? What he wrote was something private to him when he was still a trainee.”

Meanwhile, JaeBum has left 2PM and also Korea on 8th September, 4 days after the backlashes from the revelation of his pre-debut messages posted on MySpace.

Park Jin Young also issued an official statement on 10th September and some fans are also doing up a boycott movement against JYP.

  8. I’m just glad that someone in the government defended Jae… πŸ™‚ I may not be from Korea but I admire those few people whose minds are open about things.

I would be happier if Jae comes back but I’d rather wait. Come back when you are good and ready Park Jaebum! we’ll wait for you πŸ˜€

  9. Nice support.
Someone who has a political standing n has a mature point of view. ^^
I personally think only narrow-minded freaky antis would go against jay for this issue.

    COMEBACK JAY!

  10. Always when I see someone leaving messages to support Jae I think there’s a glimpse of hope for him to come back, but.. would he able to make it? would they allow?? 😦

  11. lol
    now “jay” leave comment here?
    lol must be kidding…
ppl plz stop playing around… LOLZ

right, mdm! now someone’s talking the right thing…

  12. First off, I’m glad someone who holds political standing is actually saying this. And she’s in the conservative party? WOW. One brave woman to be saying that. But it’s true. This whole thing was just blown way way WAAAAYYYY out proportion.

Second, the first commenter, errrrr. . no comment dude. If you’re treating this as some kind of sick joke, seriously. don’t. it’s not funny. thousands and hell, perhaps even millions of fans are bawling our eyes out, and you go around saying stuff like that? wth. though i find it sort of funny “Nichkhun” replied to it. -___-

  13. Hey…
Jaebum , is it you ??????

  14. Thanks for your support …

    I’ll be back …

  15. im sure he’ll come back.

  18. YES AGREED!!! COME BACK SOON JAY =))

  19. I like what she said. Very true.
And humans only treasure something after they lost it.

  20. I’m still keeping the faith that Jay WILL come back after a well deserved rest.

  21. this is game plan by JYP . he’s very smart man. I’m confident he’s the one who told to JaeBum to pretend to quit as 2PM’s leader and return to Seattle. after that, Netizen will felt guilty after JB’s decision and many people will stand up to support him and realize he is the victim . later, he will comeback as a hero and people can accept his past mistake. Do you think JYP will let go this kid just like that? JaeBum’s foundation to 2PM like Sunye to WG and JoKwon to 2AM. he’s the only member who done everything in this group. he rap, sing, dance, back flip, acrobatic and many thing. he can success as solo singer but JYP choose him in the group cos he lack in Korean, height and attitude.

  22. Wow! My dream came through. Lol! I was hoping a politician came up to speak about the situation and someone really did ^^

I hope Jay will come back soon once he’s feeling all better about the issue ^^ He has to stay strong. Fighting!

  23. that weman said Right case closed o.k.

  24. “Be who you are
    and say what you feel
because those that mind don’t matter
and those that matter don’t mind.”
    –Dr. Seuss

  25. She worded it perfectly.

  26. I’m glad to hear someone of political standing speaking up for him. It is soo heart breaking the way they treated him. It’s like he was sentence to a crime without having a proper trial.

  27. thank you … but it’s too late now .
WELL WAIT THOUGH! we’ll be here Jay… take your time..
Hottest will be here when you comeback !!

  28. I think she can talk about this now, because Jay left 2pm and is in Seattle, meaning that because of his messages 4 years ago he has to leave 2pm and SKorea. I guess she is also shocked by why Jay has to leave, and how fast.

I am glad that she said what she has to say. Being a part of their government means a lot more than a faceless netizen. She also has a lot more experience than the thoughtless people who circulated and heightened up Jay’s messages in myspace. I think she felt she has to speak up not because Jay is an idol, but because Jay is also a Korean. He also belongs to that country and should not be criticized if he felt scared, shocked and lonely when he first came there from the US.

    • “I think she felt she has to speak up not because Jay is an idol, but because Jay is also a Korean. He also belongs to that country and should not be criticized if he felt scared, shocked and lonely when he first came there from the US.”

      EXACTLY. Very well said

    • “I think she felt she has to speak up not because Jay is an idol, but because Jay is also a Korean. He also belongs to that country and should not be criticized if he felt scared, shocked and lonely when he first came there from the US.”

      EXACTLY.

  29. wow. all these opinions keep coming in. i dont get it though. why now? why doing this after he left? how about saying it A LITTLE BIT EARLIER??

  30. honestly i’m glad that she talked about this and knowing that there are reasonable people on this planet….it’s TOO HARD to imagine 2PM without their leader…almost impossible
    we want him back

  31. I think the reason people are supporting him now is because it’s gone so far. At first when it happened everyone was hurt because what he had said was pretty bad by Korean standards because they ddidn’t know that in America people call things gay all the time. Also it wasn’t clear at the time what was going to happen, and now that it’s gone so far people are stepping up to say that the extent to which it’s gone is too far and even though he said some hurtful things he definitely did not deserve what happened and how far it’s gone. I don’t blame Koreans for being hurt for what he said, but how far it’s gone is reallly just ridiculous.

  32. Its funny to me how people can be so cruel and yet, now want him back when he already gone… If he come back, would u people dig up something like “he left, why bother coming back”… sheat like that will happen when he finally decide to come back…. so its best if he just stay in the states and be happy & loved by his family and closed friends… I’ll always support him and I wish he doesn’tl give up his dreams. Park Jaebeom forever<3333333

  33. Finally, a part of Korea’s government defends Jay!

  34. it’s good to know that even politicans are supporting him …

  35. and she’s from their conservative party –
so glad you wrote on this issue – there was ridiculous talk of
people boycotting sbs if they were going to broadcast this –
same old same old – ignorance is bliss – mentality of my fellow
asians – there is still a much larger issue around the bad side of asian family life that centers around cruelty and shame based cultures – the ugly side that asians never want to talk
about because its too honest and vulnerable and real and
    something we all know about

  36. Alright! The woman knows what she’s talking about. Hopefully they will get like those highly ranked government officials to apologize to Jaebum on behalf of its citizens and that they will go to America to personally usher him back to Korea. Lol. I doubt this will happen though. So yeaaaa.

  37. Oh well.. what’s done is done. I hope korean netizens learned something or rather A LOT from THEIR mistake. I know he’ll come back someday but for now, he deserves some peaceful and personal time with his family. I hope the other 2PM members are doing well 😦

  38. I guess some extra support can”t hurt, esspecially if it helps bringing Jay back.. but somehow i think they should have done this before, right after the incident happened…

  39. seriously. this is ridiculous.

  40. finally..i hope this will give a little knock in the head to everyone that cast him away

  41. hah! now that Jay Park is back in Seattle, all these ‘support” start coming in..

    talk about being timely.

let this issue rest! no use brooding over it.

  42. Hi im jaebum and thank you for kicking me out of KOREA πŸ™‚
