The ‘SM vs YG’ outrage on the internet

YG TV, which takes fans into behind the scenes and upclose and personal with the YG artistes and Yang Hyun Seok himself, started to air on 2nd July.

While music fans rejoiced with this new reality programme, one part of the netizens are angry over a part of the show which had showed Big Bang members’ response when they were watching Inkigayo and Super Junior had won Mutizen on the show.

Netizens cut out the part of the episode where Big Bang were watching 2NE1 performing on SBS Inkigayo and Super Junior were announced the winner on the show.

Netizens claimed that they heard the responses from the boys:

  • “Oh my”
  • “What the, SM”

The cut here:

The whole section of the episode starting from around 0.19:

This caused an outrage on the internet with posts titled ‘YG puts SM down’ etc with hot debate going on.

The responses by the netizens were really getting out of hands, there were the agitated SM artistes supporters writing the really mean and outragious comments and there were the VIPs who were apologising.

For me it didn’t seemed like Big Bang was trying to put Super Junior down but were merely disappointed with 2NE1 not getting an award.

The reason why I’m posting this is I hope this stupid ‘war’ between the SM and YG supporters will not start amongst the non-Korean kpoppers community.

    What the hell. It was just just a random reaction. Of course 2NE1 is a new group, and knowing YG family, they’re just excited in almost everything that happens to them.

    I’m so disappointed. I’m sure they did not mean anything bad.

    Well of course Big Bang would support 2NE1 and the way I see it, Gdragon only expressed his surprise, it wasn’t like he went into some mental breakdown because they didn’t win.

    From different points of view:
    If Big Bang knew they were on T.V. shouldn’t they know not to say something “wrong” even if they were disappointed at 2NE1? Knowing that netizens are at it again and blowing things out of proportions they should watch what they say?

    Another point of view:
    Even if BB did say that, is it sort of disrespectful because Super Junior are their sunbaes. Again, an award doesn’t make only one group/person a winner. I think all of them are winners for even performing and working that hard to give fans what they want.

    Another p.o.v.:
    I’m so sorry for 2NE1. They must work them really hard. YG/BB cannot expect 2NE1 to win every award. Give them a break. They already won 2 crowns from Inkigayo, maybe they will win the triple crown with their new single.

    Another point:
    Why are VIPs apologizing? They aren’t the people who have done wrong. I know they are helping their idols but if they want to sort this out, BB should clear what they said.

    Sookyeong, even though you posted this… I think you should have left the comments/reply section disabled. A lot of dumb fans are going to start attacking each other.
